Slow Cooker Or Instant Pot?

Updated: Jun 10, 2019

With freezer meals, one pot meals, meal bowls, etc, slow cookers and Instant Pots are becoming all the rage. I have a slow cooker and I love it. Why? Because it is a super simple and a super easy way to cook a meal. Once you have prepped and seasoned your food, just put it in, then set it and forget it! Set it high or set it on low. No other buttons to push or any other time setting methods required. I also love that I have the option to set it to cook overnight, so my meal is done in the morning or set it earlier in the day, and the by dinner, just grab your plate and serve. As I said, super simple and super easy! And though you may not think that this is a time saving way of cooking, think again. After I have set prepped and set my slow cooker, I can then move on to preparing another meal. Multitasking at it's cooking best!

Here is one of my favorite slow cooker recipe. Compliments of Tastefully Simple of course! It is called Magic Chicken. After you see the recipe video, you will see how this very versatile recipe earned it's name!

Then there are the Instant Pots. They are a little different. Unlike slow cookers, you are cooking your meals faster, hence the name Instant Pot! Makes sense, right? So, it you are the type of person that does not want to wait 6-8 hours for your food to cook, then the Instant Pot might be for you.

That being said, there has been some safety concerns in regards to the Instant Pot. Some wiring and melting issues have come up with a specific model. More info about that can be found in the video below

Just do your research and make sure that the Instant Pot you choose is the safest model on the market. So, which one is your favorite? Slow cooker or Instant Pot? Please let me know and include some of your recipes as well!
