Fresh Start: How 2026 Will Prove That 2025 Didn't Break Me

And so I choose to begin again

2025 was not a good year.

I lost my job—a job I had for ten years. A job I was pretty good at. Not only that, but the manner in which it ended sent me into a tailspin. I’ve had to start over before, but I was younger then, and I lived in a place that gave me more options.

Now that I’m in my more mature years, my options aren’t quite as open as they once were. On top of that, I live in a location where employment opportunities are much easier to come by if you know how to drive—which I don’t. Hey, don’t judge me! 😂 I’m a Brooklyn girl, born and raised. I never needed to learn. But I digress.

So why am I starting this blog post on such a not-so-cheery note? Because every fresh start begins with an honest look at where you’ve been. And because I intend to make 2026 the year I prove that 2025 did not break me. Don’t get me wrong—it came damn close. But I’m still here.

With that being said, let’s get to the Fresh Start portion of this post. Part of my fresh start is recommitting myself to both my Avon and Tastefully Simple businesses. My goal is to be 100% self-employed by 2027. If 2025 taught me anything, it’s that as an employee, you are expendable—and I’ve had enough of that.

I truly believe I can achieve this goal. Avon is the business I’ve had for over 25 years, and it has seen me through some very tough times—this past year being no exception. I’m not saying it’s for everyone, but it has worked for me over the years. And there are plenty of people who have made Avon their main source of income. If they can do it, why can’t I?

While Avon is my main focus, Tastefully Simple has become not only a source of income but also a genuine gift in my day-to-day life. It makes meal planning and prep easier, which is no small thing. Tastefully Simple came into my life after I moved south. I saw it in a social media post, and it intrigued me. I loved the idea of simplifying meals—and earning some extra income along the way didn’t hurt either. At first, I treated it more like a hobby. I enjoyed the discount and helped clients who loved the beer bread, seasonings, and sauces. But Tastefully Simple has grown into much more than that. It can and will play a role in helping me become more financially independent.

By the time this post is published, January will be coming to an end, and I’ll be busy helping my customers and clients with Valentine’s Day gifts while also preparing for the upcoming Easter holiday. From ideas for Easter baskets to tips for making holiday meals simple and stress-free, I’ll be sharing ways to make life a little easier. I’ll also be supporting my small team and helping them earn the income Avon can provide.
