New Beginnings

Updated: Jan 16, 2019

Usually, the new year brings a feeling of renewal, hope and an optimism of great things to come. To go along with those feelings, resolutions are generally made. "I will exercise more!" "I will eat healthier!", "I will drink more water!", "I will stop smoking, or drinking". You know, the usual. And what normally happens? Those resolutions go by the wayside about a month into the the new year. At least that is the case for me. I used to say, "I am going to give up soda, eat healthier, drink more water and start an exercise routine" Care to guess which one of those I stuck to? If you guessed NONE, then you would be correct! I have very good intentions mind you. I would buy exercise videos, start eating more salads, and tun my face away from Pepsi and Dr. Pepper. Yup, I was going to start the new year off right with all of these awesome resolutions. And then by February, it all went bye bye.

So this year, I had made the decision not to go down that rabbit hole anymore. I was listening to one of my business mentors who mentioned that she was not doing resolutions any longer. She was going to focus more on a word or phrase. Well that got the light bulb above my head to turn on! This sounds better than a bunch of resolutions that I most likely won't keep.

So, now to figure out my word or phrase for the year. That was a little tougher than I had anticipated. I did not want to pick a word or phrase that would not help me to manifest my goals. I wanted something that was attainable and positive. For instance, I did not want a word like Creative. That seemed too generic. Powerful sounded good, but what am I powerful at? Napping? Yes I am powerful at that. Hmm, that is sending my subconsciousness in the wrong direction.

Then I finally stopped and asked myself, "What have I lacked or not done last year?". Then it hit me! Follow through! I did not follow through on a lot of what I wanted to do or get accomplished and that held me back. Follow Through!!!! That is my phrase for 2019. I feel good when I say it. I feel good when I hear it. I think that is the key when you want to pick your word or phrase. Does it feel good? Will it give you the fuel and energy to help you to accomplish your goals?

Follow through. My new beginning for 2019. What is your new beginning? Please share in the comments. Would love to hear will inspire and make you reach for your goals.
