Hurricane season is upon us. Mother nature does not take sides. So, the only thing to do is to prepare for the worst, but hope for the best. I live in a southern state, so hurricanes are a fact of life for me now and days.
Right now Hurricane Florence is about to make landfall here in my area. I have been watching and reading all of the updates and tips for getting through the worst of it, courtesy of my favorite morning news show Good Morning America. Here are a few tips to help stay safe.
Staying Safe In Flood Waters:
Winds and rain are the calling cards of a hurricane. If you are in a flood zone these are things you need to be aware of.
How To Use Technology:
First, I would highly recommend to make sure all of your devices are fully charged and if you have an external charger, please make sure that is fully charged as well. Here is Becky Worley on how your cell phone and apps can help if 911 is not available.
Flood Insurance:
Guilty! I know that my family does not have flood insurance. The mistake that most home owners make is they think that they are covered for all eventualities. This is not the case. Sam Champion urges you to make sure your home is covered.
Obviously, this does not cover everything, but it's a start. The main point is to be prepared and to stay as safe as possible. Please feel free to share any additional tips.
